Lost Crown or Filling in Santa Maria
A crown that comes off or a filling that falls out can leave a tooth sensitive or difficult to chew on. Call Everly Dental to explain what happened and arrange an assessment of the tooth and restoration.
Urgent visits during business hours, subject to availability.

THE FIRST PRIORITY
Contact the office promptly after losing a restoration. Severe pain, swelling, or associated trauma makes the problem more urgent.
RESTORATION PROBLEMS
Protect the tooth. Plan the repair.
Save what came out
Place the crown or filling in a clean container and bring it to your visit. Tell us if it came off while eating or after an injury.
Protect the exposed tooth
Avoid chewing on that side, especially hard or sticky foods. Clean gently and mention any sharp edges or temperature sensitivity when you call.
Skip household repairs
Do not use superglue or force a crown back onto the tooth. Ask the dental team whether a temporary dental product is appropriate for your situation.
Why an examination comes before recementing
A crown can loosen for different reasons, and the underlying tooth may need attention. The dentist checks the remaining tooth, the fit of the crown, the bite, and any signs of decay or fracture before deciding whether it can be reused.
A missing filling also needs an assessment of the tooth beneath it. Simply covering the space may not address the reason the restoration failed.
Possible next steps
An intact crown may sometimes be recemented. Other situations need a replacement filling, a new dental crown, or additional treatment. Ask whether same-day crown technology is appropriate; suitability and scheduling vary.
If you have travel plans or a temporary restoration, mention the timing when booking. The team can explain the next available evaluation and what information to bring. An appointment request does not confirm that a particular repair will be completed that day.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Answers before your visit
Can the same crown be put back on?
Sometimes. The crown and underlying tooth both need to be suitable. Bring the crown so the dentist can assess it.
Is it urgent if the tooth feels normal?
Call promptly even without pain. The office can help determine timing based on the location, symptoms, and whether the tooth is damaged.
What if a temporary crown came off?
Contact the dentist handling your crown treatment. Tell them when it came off and when your next visit is scheduled. Do not use household glue.
